Siskel and Ebert Haven't Gone to the Wii

Nintendo Wii is one of the superior gaming systems available on the market today. Overall, it matches up well against other consoles such as the Playstation and the X-Box. There are some major differences between the Wii and other gaming systems, though.

With many of the systems turning to online movie downloading, the Nintendo Wii system has not offered that accommodation. Both Microsoft's X-Box and Sony's Playstation now allow users, who have their systems connected online, the ability to download full length movies from the Internet. Wii still does not offer movie downloading. The system will allow the user to connect to the Internet with features like playing against others online or getting information such as weather or news through their Wii Channels.

Nintendo, known for its groundbreaking systems, came out with the Wii a few years back. It was not until recently that the gaming system has become easily accessible. The Nintendo Wii is different than most gaming systems because the movements of the characters on the screen are based on the user's own movements. Many accessories are available such as a Wii-Fit board, a crossbow, and the guitars/instruments for the Rock Band or Guitar Hero series. The standard games use the Wii Remote and Nunchuk.

Most games are available for all three systems. Of course, some of them have their signature characters in games that are only available for the Wii, the Playstation 3, or the X-Box 360. For example, games featuring the well known Mario are only made for Nintendo systems.

One of the many Wii games that are exclusively for Nintendo that is fun for players of all ages is Carnival Games. This game recreates lifelike games such as frog flipping, dart throwing, and testing your strength by slamming a sledgehammer down on a strength meter. The player can win stuffed animals and find hidden prizes in the single player mode or can compete against others in competition mode. With over 25 mini games, this game will allow families hours upon hours of fun. Carnival Games, however, is not for the serious gamer. It is a lighthearted adventure in the cyber world of amusement parks that is meant for family fun.

Nintendo also exclusively makes many other games for Wii. With the Wii-Fit board, users can work out or snowboard the slopes of slick white capped mountains. One of the newer exclusive games for Wii is Wii Music. This game allows users to create songs using a variety of different instruments.

Nintendo Wii offers players unequaled gaming experiences. It may be a one of a kind gaming system offering many unique Wii games, but it has not evolved into a complete entertainment system with movie downloads...yet!
